Released by the tourism officials in Motuo County, the hiking trail from Paizhen to Beibeng was reopened on June 10th. The entrance fee is RMB160 per person.
Metok or Medog, “Motuo” in Chinese, the only Chinese county with no highway connection to the outside world and inaccesible by modern vehicles till the end of 2013. It is the last county where the River Yarlung Tsangpo crosses over in China before it flows to India. The construction of the Medog Highway makes it possible for tourists, esp. trekkers to enter the remotest area.
As the weather gets warmer, the snow melts and the scenery along the route is breathtaking. Trekkers can enjoy the Motuo State Natural Reserve, gorgeous waterfalls, rivers, rich flora and meet the local Menba and Luoba ethnic groups.
